I was born to die a handsome ghoul

Seen the wedding party
down in the village square
the bride caught my attention
as I paid the taxi man his fare

Went into the chapel
where the wedding party'd been
looking for an angel
that'd understand the pain

Didn't know what I was looking for
still can't sleep ,can't let go
just thought I'd find the answers
'cause the bible tells you so

Put four guineas in the tin
one for God, his son the ghost and the cleaner
as the world was spinning into another day
I was wondering if I should have been meaner

The sun hurt my eyes as I left the marriage place
confetti littered the pavement
straightened my tie , polished my jet black shoes
felt it was the least I should do, after my atonement

I went over to the cemetery gates
looked at the writing on the wall
searching to see if my name'd been filled in
on the road to heaven or the road to hell

Seen my closest friends all in one thought
toasting and gambling for my soul
they don't need to worry
I was born to die a handsome ghoul

Hiya Rodel
The forth and fifth stanzas were out of sync for me but I have come to read your lyrics they way they were written. That means that I hear you loud and clear although you have the odd typo etc. I am not aquainted with the protocol of lyrics and so I feel I cannot add much as remembering some of the great songs which were full of shady grammar 😉
Keep on doing what you are doing.
Handsome Ghoul?
I am a screaming Banshee... 😉

Love that title!

I surely would love to hear this sung. I couldn't quite grasp the rythm of a couple of the stanzas.

Love the last line. Almost wish it weren't in the title, just kept for a surprise, maybe a refrain.
