Born on the river, on the spring tide
born on the river on the spring tide
stuck out my thumb, hitched a donkey ride

I collected favours, down on the north sea
I collected favours down on the north sea
swaped trials and burdens, over gin and whiskey

The road to paradise is full of holes and tolls
the road to paradise was full of holes and tolls
don't think I'll ever find all them dead sea scrolls

I entered Sodom, before Gomorrah was built
I entered Sodom before Gomorrah was built
selling my untold stories just to relieve my guilt

Met a woman she was seven feet tall
met a woman she was seven feet tall
she didn't like my aftershave, called me an oddball

Looked in the empty grave reserved for kings and clowns
looked in the empty grave reserved for kings and clowns
guess all I seen was a hole in the ground

I went back to the river where it all began
I went back to the river where it all began
it was full of unnamed poisons, death and plastic cans

I looked for my momma, now she was long gone dead
I looked for my momma, now she was long gone dead
the heroes and legends,in their glory bed

I'd heard of angels that'd come for you
I'd heard of angels that'd come for you
no angels coming for me, so I sing the blues

I looked to the sky, the sun and the stars
I looked to the sky the sun and the stars
tapped my foot to the drum and guitar

The world turns faster every single day
the world turns faster every single day
yesterday was June tomorrow it'll be May

I drank myself to sleep on the edge of a knife
I drank myself to sleep on the edge of a knife
after listening all day about eternal life

Hi Royrodel, good lyrics and I would be interested to hear an audio track of it. I see you’ve written a lot of song lyrics. Is it your main thing? Do you play an instrument – guitar, keyboard..? Thought your piece was good and told a story too. Enjoyed.

Jack
