A day, a week, a month , a year
you're always travelling in the fastest gear
while the medals are being pinned, on the bombadier
never feeling down or a shade of blue
you're the one that pulled through
never coming to a dead end
breaking, promises,that's what you do
you don't even have, a point of veiw

Wise one with your head in the clouds and sand
you always have two in your one man band

Another year gone lying in the past
you just ask them why they asked, their question
'cause you know only children and fools know the truth
as they quote the BBC and the book of Ruth
you just slave for your companion
playing the ace, and the deuce everytime
covering up, your latest crime

Wise one with your head in the clouds and sand
you always have two in your one man band

You're both black and white, you're a man of the world,
all knowing about heavens light, you're a messiah
you're temptations were all you had
you only see good in all the bad
but you wont bow to their jehovah
embracing junkies and dicing with gamblers
you play your guitar with the vicar and the other teasers

Wise one with your head in the clouds and sand
you always have two in your one man band

You were despised by your teachers and the preachers
as you were in love with, all the creatures
told them to smell the sweetness of the morning
they just turned away, as they killed their brothers
looking them in the eye, they just turn away
waiting for the blessings from the April spring
hoping that they wont be freed today

Wise one with your head in the clouds and sand
you always have two in your one man band

Well the scrounger is scrounging for young minds
looking for someone so he can feed and blind
to buy his remedies for pain
tobacco and alcohol,diesel,chocolate
tainted news and coffins
all delivered on the last train
from richmen and lawyers
running away from their sin
drinking whiskey,vodka and tainted gin

Wise one with your head in the clouds and sand
you always have two in your one man band

But then what do you believe
when you don't believe what you see
a child just died so you could be free
in a world full of despise
the child was black, disease ridden with no hope
as you reach out to your queen and your for ever forgiving pope

Wise one with your head in the clouds and sand
you always have two in your one man band

Hi Roy,
Although I find the meaning escapes me, maybe even confuses me; the verse is compelling. There are some real kicker lines. Particularly like:
'cause you know only children and fools know the truth
as they quote the BBC and the book of Ruth. There are a great many more, and I find more to enjoy each time I read this.
I hope that didn't sound patronising? Not my intention.
cheers,
Jim

Really like the chorus, would help to know what genre the song is but I guess that shouldn't matter, some tight lines and has a swagger that I like. My only crit would be that Medals and Bombardiers sets a dated image that doesnt fit with the wild travelling man coolness of the verses and so put me off a bit at first. I would love to hear it as I already have a melody, great song thanks for sharing. S
